Cohen expects to play the same role in 2019

Running back JORDAN HOWARD is no longer in Chicago, but fellow running back TARIK COHEN does not expect his role to change heading into the 2019 season. Cohen expects to remainMore the “receiving” back or “change of pace” back, much like he was last year. The Bears added MIKE DAVIS in the offseason and drafted rookie DAVID MONTGOMERY, both of whom could have a role in the backfield this season. Less

Around the NFL: Eagles add Howard

The Eagles acquired Jordan Howard from the Bears yesterday, a trade that makes some sense for both sides. Howard was a poor fit for the Bears offense, which likes to use running backs in the passing game, while the Eagles have been looking for a lead back seemingly for forever.   more »

Bears add free agent RB Davis

The Chicago Bears added former Seattle running back MIKE DAVIS on a two-year deal this week. Running back JORDAN HOWARD remains on the roster for now, but Davis is believed toMore be a better fit for the Bears offense. While Davis is a solid runner, he is also a versatile back with the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. Less

Around the NFL: Mike Davis

Only the NFL understands why free agency opens on Wednesday while big-money contracts started being signed yesterday. Funny money was handed out to safeties, offensive tackles, linebackers and Nick Foles. But the deal that interests me most for its fantasy potential is Mike Davis signing with the Bears.   more »

Penny could earn more time in Seattle backfield

Seattle running back RASHAAD PENNY had a breakout performance on Sunday and head coach Pete Carroll has had high praise for his rookie this week. It appears the Seahawks will move forward with a backfield committee that will include CHRIS CARSON, MIKE DAVIS, and Penny.

Seattle rookie has career day

With Seattle running back CHRIS CARSON inactive for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, backup MIKE DAVIS got the start. Davis had a nice game but it was rookie runningMore back RASHAAD PENNY who surprised everyone with the best game of his brief career. Penny topped 100 rushing yards on just 12 carries while adding a touchdown for fantasy owners that actually started him. Less

Carson a game-time decision vs. Rams

Seattle starting running back CHRIS CARSON is considered a game-time decision for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Carson is dealing with a hip injury that limited him to oneMore half in last Sunday’s game. If Carson can’t play, the majority of his workload is expected to go to veteran MIKE DAVIS. Less

Rookie RB Penny forgotten man in Seahawks backfield

So much for that RASHAAD PENNY sleeper pick that looked so good on draft night. Seattle is finally getting its running game in gear but the first-round rookie has not beenMore a part of the action. With seventh-round pick CHRIS CARSON and fourth-round pick MIKE DAVIS leading the Seahawks backfield, it could be a while before Penny has much fantasy relevance. Less

Seahawks RB Davis to have a role in Seattle backfield

Seattle running back MIKE DAVIS was named as a surprise starter shortly before the start of the Seahawks game against Arizona on Sunday. CHRIS CARSON is expected to keep his startingMore job when he returns from his injury and rookie RASHAAD PENNY will likely get some carries as well. The Seahawks backfield is a fantasy mess. Less

Injuries open door for Seattle RB Prosise

Seattle running back C.J. PROSISE will likely get some additional reps with fellow backs RASHAAD PENNY and MIKE DAVIS dealing with injuries. Penny is out with a broken finger while DavisMore is dealing with a sore big toe. There is a bit of irony in Prosise getting more playing time due to injured teammates, considering that he had played just 11 of 32 games the last two seasons due to a litany of injuries of his own. He is now one of four tailbacks on the roster,More joining CHRIS CARSON, C.J. PROSISE, and J.D. MCKISSIC. It could be a while before fantasy owners see how the Seattle backfield shakes out. Less
