Around the NFL: Bengals running backs
Toward the end of one of the Experts competitions last week, one participant accidentally had Adrian Peterson autodrafted for him. He asked me to switch that to Samaje Perine, which briefly gave me pause; I had to search my memory for where Perine was employed. He's in Cincinnati, and with Giovani Bernard gone, he looks like Joe Mixon's main backup. Not a bad last-round flier. more »

Bengals RB Perine scores 2 touchdowns vs. Texans
Cincinnati Bengals running back SAMAJE PERINE rewarded fantasy owners wise enough to have him in their starting lineups against the Houston Texans on Sunday. While most fantasy owners likely had veteran GIOVANI BERNARD in their lineups, it was Perine who led team with over 100 total yards and 2 touchdowns.

Bengals RB Bernard in NFL concussion protocol
Cincinnati Bengals running back GIOVANI BERNARD was a surprise absence from Wednesday’s practice after being placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Bernard’s availability for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants… More is in serious doubt after entering the protocol just a few days before the game. With fellow running back JOE MIXON on injured reserve, the Bengals will likely rely on SAMAJE PERINE and TRAYVEON WILLIAMS if Bernard is also out. Less

Washington drafts RB Love, adds to crowded backfield corps
Washington raised eyebrows when the team drafted running back BRYCE LOVE in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. With ADRIAN PETERSON, CHRIS THOMPSON, DERRIUS GUICE, and SAMAJE PERINE all… More on the roster, it would seem like there is little room left for the rookie running back. Although Guice is said to be on track in his recovery from an ACL injury, the selection of Love was a surprise to many. Less

Around the NFL: Washington signing Peterson
I am not a big fan of Adrian Peterson (who is joining Washington). He’s 33 years old, and that’s awfully long in the tooth for a running back. Everyone hits the end of the road. more »

Washington loses two more running backs
A week after rookie running back DERRIUS GUICE tore his ACL in the first preseason game, Washington lost two more running backs in the team’s second preseason game. SAMAJE PERINE suffered… More a twisted ankle but tests were negative and he’s expected to miss only about a week. Backup BYRON MARSHALL also suffered an ankle injury and is expected to miss two to four weeks. ROB KELLEY is likely to get extended playing time due to all of the injuries. Less

Around the NFL: Washington running backs
Football returned in a big way last night, with 12 games and a chance to see a large percentage of the various rookies in action. A lot of them delivered some big plays right away, including Saquon Barkley, Antonio Callaway and a couple of the Green Bay wideouts fighting for depth chart positioning. But the ugly side of the preseason -- injuries -- also reared its head. more »

Speculation has been increasing that rookie running back DERRIUS GUICE could lead the Washington backfield heading into the 2018 season.
