Another unbelievable offseason story

There's not much actual NFL news around right now, unless you count one team trading a first-round bust to another as "news." So instead we get the kind of feel-good stories that simply can't be believed.

A perfect example is this one from the Seattle Times indicating that Golden Tate won't be affected by Seattle's trade for Percy Harvin. Tate, after all, is an outside receiver, while Harvin will primarily line up in the slot.

The Seahawks will certainly use more sets with three wide receivers this season. No disputing that. But who will see more targets? And who will be on the sidelines when they do use two-wide receiver sets?

Harvin cost the Seahawks a first-round pick and a big contract, plus he's simply much more talented than Tate. Maybe Seattle passes more this season than they did a year ago, and maybe Harvin's presence opens things up more for Tate.

But the idea that Tate won't be affected -- hurt -- by the team adding a player of Harvin's caliber into the mix is one of those offseason stories that simply can't be trusted. Harvin's production has to come from somewhere. A good guess is that some of it will come from Tate.
