Randall Cobb caught 80 balls last year, and he was very reliable. Only 24 passes thrown his way fell incomplete. That's 77 percent -- the highest success rate by any wide receivers in the last five years.
I think Randall Cobb will be a big star for the Packers this year. He's good, and I think they'll use him more now that Greg Jennings is gone.
He's reliable, and he'll see a lot of passes out of the slot.
He was very effective last year. Aaron Rodgers threw 104 passes in his direction, and that resulted in 80 completions. That success rate of 77 percent is the highest by any wide receiver in the last five years (among guys with at least 100 attempts).
Now, I'm not making too much of that number. If you look at the chart below, which shows all wide receivers over 65 percent, you'll see that the vast majority of guys are slot receivers. It's a lot easier catching 9-yard hooks than making the big catches down the field. So arguably, the more impressive receivers from last year were Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant. Those guys are more the playmaker-type guys.
But Cobb is good, and he's a guy I'll be tending to select in drafts.
