Had a decent week last week (161 points), though it would have been better if I hadn't let somebody talk me into starting Vernon Davis. Friend of mine lost his Super Bowl based on Davis' shutout, so things could have been worse. Anyhoo, it's Week 17, I've got one last chance to climb into double-digits (I'm sitting at 107), and I plan to make these picks count.
In this competition you pick your best lineup of 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs, and 2 PKs. You can enter at this link. You're competing against Fantasy Index staffers and your fellow readers, and there's one last weekly prize. Here's the Week 17 lineup.
Quarterbacks: Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. Manning needs 265 yards to break the record for passing yards in a season, and 2-3 more TDs would make his TD record pretty much untouchable. Denver also needs to win in Oakland to avoid a return trip to Foxborough in the playoffs. Brees is home facing a defense that's worst against the pass. I guess Nick Foles is a possibility here, too.
Running Backs: LeSean McCoy and Ryan Mathews. McCoy faces Dallas, nuff said. Mathews gets the edge over an injured Eddie Lacy, although Mathews also has an ankle injury, so I reserve the right to change this one up. Kansas City won't be trying in San Diego on Sunday.
Wide Receivers: DeSean Jackson, Demaryius Thomas, Dez Bryant (if healthy). Bryant tweaked his back in practice this week, so we'll see. Other possibilities are A.J. Green and Brandon Marshall.
Tight Ends: Jimmy Graham and Tony Gonzalez. Graham is Graham, Gonzalez has been finishing very strong and this is his farewell game.
Kickers: Nick Novak and Blair Walsh. Home teams that should win and score against disinterested opposition.
Good luck to the rest of you, and Happy New Year.
