Yesterday was cutdown day, and a lot of small, medium and bigger names hit the streets. For some, that was probably the end of the NFL road, but many others will surface on practice squads, and some will find homes on the rosters of other teams. In no particular order, here are 7 guys I think might find their way onto rosters in the next few days.
Vincent Brown: Brown wasn't healthy this preseason, and didn't do enough the last couple of years to live up to his initial rookie promise. Still, there's talent there, and I think some team will give him a shot, remembering the potential he showed.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis: Green-Ellis is a limited guy, but there's a job out there for quiet veteran types who can run the ball inside and don't fumble. I don't really think Green-Ellis will end up back with the Patriots, but he'll get a job somewhere.
Stephen Hill: Hill's agent popped off about how the Jets were partially at fault for Hill's disappointing stint with New York. I don't have much fondness for agents ripping teams, but it is true that New York has a less than favorable history of developing young offensive players in the Rex Ryan era. Hiring lousy offensive coordinators might be part of it. Anyway, I don't have an opinion on whether Hill can develop into a quality wideout, but the Jets weren't the team to bring it out of him; maybe another team will be.
Ryan Williams: I liked Williams coming out of college, but he never showed it in Arizona, with injuries wrecking his potential. But he looked good in Dallas this preseason, and I'm a little surprised the team likes Joseph Randle more. Williams should catch on with another team and I think there's an NFL future, if he can stay healthy, anyway.
Dion Lewis: There was some enthusiasm for Lewis when the Browns added him last preseason, but he got hurt. This preseason, he might have got caught in something of a numbers game -- Cleveland didn't want to lose third-rounder Terrance West or Isaiah Crowell. Not a huge amount of upside, but you never know.
Henry Josey: Another ex-Eagle, Josey was impressive in the preseason, but the Eagles like Chris Polk more. Philadelphia may hope to get Josey onto its practice squad, but I'm not sure he makes it there.
Lache Seastrunk: Washington's sixth-round pick was a mild surprise, although he has some liabilities -- operates best in space, but can't catch. Still, I bet someone liked him enough on draft day to give him a shot now.
