DraftKings Week 3 Competition

So last week I did so well in DraftKings' salary cap game that I doubled my money. OK, granted, I made the tiny investment of $2, and took home $4, but if I'd done a little better, I'd have won a lot more money. Next time I won't gamble on Justin Hunter.

Next time is NOW. Last week I finished in the top 10,000 out of 57,500, so not bad. I plan to really clean up this week. In this game you pick your best starting lineup within the confines of a salary cap. The competition gives participants a chance to win money from a $100,000 prize pool, including $10,000 for first place. No, seriously! Other details:

Here's my team.

Quarterback: Drew Brees. Brees is at home against a Vikings team he threw 5 TDs against three years ago. Different roster, but not sure the pass defense is much better, and I have to think the Vikings are a little distracted by everything going on. Or not, whatever, it doesn't matter. Brees in the Superdome, I have to have him in my lineup.

Running back: Stevan Ridley and Donald Brown. Ridley should have big numbers against a Raiders defense that New England should be able to maul on the ground. Brown is a guy who's currently priced as if he's still a backup, when in fact he's starting this week and should do fine against Buffalo.

Wide receivers/flex: Andre Johnson, Mohamed Sanu, Percy Harvin and Anquan Boldin. Love Johnson against the Giants' seemingly oft-confused secondary. I don't expect A.J. Green to play so I'm trying Sanu, although I still could switch off that. Harvin should catch plenty of balls in the showdown with Denver. Boldin is facing his former team and he should see looser coverage than Michael Crabtree.

Tight end: Jimmy Graham. I know salary cap games are about finding value, but Graham has just so much more potential than almost every other tight end that it just makes sense to invest in him and go cheaper elsewhere. Yes, Julius Thomas and Antonio Gates have already had 3 TD games this year. With Graham it's conceivable he'll score 2 TDs in any given week. Can't help but take him.

Defense: Miami Dolphins. They're a good value and at home against Alex Smith and Kansas City.

Check out the competition at the above link, and good luck.
