The Jets have signed Josh McCown, and although the guaranteed money isn't huge for a starting quarterback in today's NFL ($6 million), it's pretty much a given he'll be the Week 1 starting quarterback on a rebuilding team. But in Week 2 or 3? The Jets will need to have somebody else ready to go.
McCown keeps getting starting jobs, and he keeps getting hurt. He turns 38 this summer, so fair to say his fragility is increasing. The Jets should have a patchwork line after saying goodbye to three veteran starters from last year's team, so that's not a trend that's likely to change.
The table below shows how things have worked out for McCown in his starting stints with the Bucs and Browns since 2014.
