Circus day in Seattle: Seahawks add Clowney for peanuts

After trading away Frank Clark in the offseason, it seemed impossible that the Seahawks could get as much pass-rushing production in 2019 as they had a year ago -- until Saturday, that is, when the franchise pulled off a miraculous trade, getting the disgruntled JADEVEON CLOWNEY from Houston in exchange for a couple of defensive backups (BARKEVIOUS MINGO and JACOB MARTIN) and a future third-round draft choice. Not much more to say about this one; Houston was apparently desperate to convert Clowney into help on offense (especially at tackle), and when Clowney refused to cooperate with the Texans' efforts to trade him directly for what they wanted, he had to be moved in a salary dump. The 'Hawks reap the benefits whether Clowney eventually re-signs with them (he isn't eligible to do so until after the season) or not.
