If you're in need of a Week 16 tight end with a decent chance of getting in the end zone, consider Tyler Eifert. He's Jacksonville's main receiving tight end, and he's matched up with a defense not very good at covering the position.
Eifert comes off a 3 for 51 receiving game. He's not a one-man show (James O'Shaughnessy played about 40 percent of the time), but he's been more productive lately. And the Bears have allowed 10 touchdowns to tight ends, and they've done that without facing a lot of the top guys at the position. Perhaps 3 or 4 of those 10 scores have been by what might be considered top threats: Hockenson, Smith, Tonyan and Cook.
Here are the 10 tight ends to score against Chicago in the first 14 games.
TIGHT ENDS SCORING AGAINST CHICAGO | |||
---|---|---|---|
Scorer | No | Yds | TD |
Hockenson, Det. | 5 | 56 | 1 |
Hurst, Atl. | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Alie-Cox, Ind. | 1 | 13 | 1 |
Everett, LAR | 4 | 28 | 1 |
Cook, N.O. | 5 | 51 | 1 |
Smith, Tenn. | 2 | 32 | 1 |
Tonyan, G.B. | 5 | 67 | 1 |
Lewis, G.B. | 2 | 16 | 1 |
James, Det. | 1 | 9 | 1 |
Conklin, Minn. | 3 | 57 | 1 |
Don't pick up Eifert to use him over a high-quality option or anything, but he's worth considering if you're in a bind at the position this week.
