Players are often optimistic when it comes to their own injury status, but when a players states just before the game that he's playing, it seems pretty valid. Austin Ekeler, then, looks good to for today's game against the Patriots. But a late surprise with Calvin Ridley (personal) INACTIVE today.
This is the second time in three games that Ridley has been inactive for a personal issue. Not sure what's going on and it's none of my business, but it's pretty late-breaking. Kyle Pitts, Cordarrelle Patterson and Russell Gage get the apparent boosts from Ridley being out.
The other big name who's questionable is Dak Prescott, and that one is extra tricky because it's the night game. If Prescott winds up inactive, the only alternatives that late in the day are backup Cooper Rush, perhaps Kirk Cousins (in the leagues he's available) or Daniel Jones on Monday night. (I'm assuming no one will have the option of starting Patrick Mahomes, but I guess anything is possible.) I've followed this one very closely and don't have any inside info. A report linked to on Rotoworld (yes I'm still calling it that) yesterday said "It would surprise many close to the situation" if Prescott started. Adam Schefter this morning said Prescott is "still up in the air," which as close to useless a report as can be offered. In my lineup, I'm benching Prescott for last-minute waiver claim Teddy Bridgewater. I don't like to risk zeros if I can find someone else who might be good for 15-20 points.
Other news and notes...
Ian Rapoport reports "There is optimism that T.Y. Hilton (quad) will play." I should hope so, Hilton practiced fully on Friday.
In a more valuable report from Rapoport, DeVante Parker (hamstring) is expected to play for the Dolphins.
Rob Gronkowski (ribs) is expected to play.
Also expected to play are Odell Beckham for Cleveland and Alex Collins for Seattle. These ones aren't surprising.
The 49ers should get left tackle Trent Williams back today, a big plus for their offense against the Bears.
Not a lot of mystery today; the Dak one is the big one. If I see any further updates on him or anyone else, I'll post in the comments below.
