Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown confronted quarterback Jalen Hurts during their Week 2 game against the Minnesota Vikings. He felt that he wasn’t getting enough touches to help the team. While the Eagles won that game, Brown had four catches for 29 yards.

Through the first two weeks of the 2023 NFL season, averaged only 59 yards per game. But while airing his grievance didn’t work in Week 2, it helped him to go on a dominant run that hasn’t been seen in the NFL before.

A.J. Brown enters the NFL record book in Week 8

The Eagles visited their division rivals, the Washington Commanders, in Week 8. They already faced each other in Week 4, wherein A.J. Brown had a season-high 175 yards and two touchdowns on nine receptions. The Week 8 rematch was no different, as he finished with eight catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns.

Brown really has Washington’s number, as proven by his two touchdown catches. He defeated Benjamin St-Juste’s tight coverage with a one-handed touchdown catch before the first half ended. Meanwhile, he overcame two defenders in his second score, allowing the Eagles to tie the game at 17.

It’s not only against Washington that he has played well. He has done it over a stretch of six games, helping the Eagles win seven of their first eight games. As for Brown, he passed Calvin Johnson’s record for consecutive games with at least 125 receiving yards.

The streak started when the former Ole Miss standout had nine catches for 131 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a week before their first matchup against Washington. He followed it up with 127 against the Los Angeles Rams, 131 against the New York Jets, and 137 versus the Miami Dolphins.

His performances are paying dividends for his fantasy football owners as he scored from 18.7 to 38.5 points from Weeks 3 to 8 on PPR mode. Through Week 8, Brown has 60 receptions for 939 yards and five touchdowns.

A.J. Brown and the Eagles finish the season against tough opposition

It remains to be seen how long can Brown can keep this streak intact. However, maintaining it would be a challenge because of their upcoming opponents. They will face the Dallas Cowboys next week before they have their bye.

After which, they will battle with the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, Cowboys again, and the Seattle Seahawks from Weeks 11 to 15. All of those teams have a winning record and defensive secondaries that can shut down opponents.

Keeping it going against these playoff contenders will make A.J. Brown’s streak more impressive. More importantly, the Eagles hope that monster numbers from him will result in victories.
