Kirk sustained a core muscle injury during a 26-yard reception on the Jaguars' initial offensive play Week 13. He underwent surgery shortly after.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Kirk has been on the IR since suffering a core muscle injury during Week 13's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on the Jags' first offensive play. He underwent surgery days later and has been in rehabilitation since.

Head coach Doug Pederson said, “Yeah, it was definitely a bad injury for him and bad for our offense. He’s in a position right now to maybe help us this week and we’ll see where he’s at." He added, "If we go ahead and open his window on Wednesday and get him out there, see what he can do. You definitely want your best players on the field this time of year and he’s one of those players for us.”

Kirk was very productive for the Jags prior to his injury, pulling in 57 passes for 787 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the Jaguars in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown receptions last season after signing with the team in free agency.

The Jags will finish the regular season at Tennessee against the Titans on Sunday where a win will solidify their spot in the playoffs with the AFC South title. They beat the Titans Week 11 34-14.

However, even with a loss, the Jaguars could still vie for the No. 7 seed in the AFC. If they don't clinch the AFC South, the No. 7 seed would predominantly be between the Jaguars and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
