The Kansas City Chiefs are the benchmark of football success, winning three Super Bowl titles in the last five seasons. They had won the American Football Conference four times during the same stretch and haven’t finished a season before the AFC Championship Game since Patrick Mahomes became their full-fledged starter.

But while they are the best team in the NFL, their principal owner, Clark Hunt, is among the worst owners in football based on the latest survey by the NFL Players Association. It’s the first time they’ve included grading for head coach and team owner, and Chiefs players have no problems with head coach Andy Reid.

The veteran mentor is only one of three head coaches who received an A+ grade, along with the Detroit Lions’ Dan Campbell and the Minnesota Vikings’ Kevin O’Connell. Conversely, Lions owner Shiela Ford Hamp received a B-, while the Vikings’ Zygi Wilf also received an A+

However, Hunt received an F-, the lowest mark among all owners. Chiefs players collectively gave him that mark because they failed to deliver on their promise of upgrading the locker room and training facilities. Hunt announced $800 million worth of renovations for Arrowhead Stadium after hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but the planned changes had little to do with player facilities.

Aside from the failing grade for their owner, the Chiefs received Fs in nutritionist/dietician, training staff, and locker room. Except for Reid’s grade, the highest mark obtained by the Chiefs is a C+ for their weight room and strength coaches.

The Chiefs will start their quest for an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl title as the 31st-ranked team from the NFLPA Player Team Report Cards, slightly better than the worst-ranked Washington Commanders. The NFLPA, in cooperation with Artemis Strategy Group, allocated 15 percent to the team owner and 10 percent to the head coach on the weighted scale.

NFLPA President JC Tretter revealed that 77 percent of NFL players responded to the survey, a 17 percent increase from last year’s rate.
