Running back Royce Freeman and the Dallas Cowboys have agreed to a one-year deal. The exact terms of the contract have not been disclosed. Barring any additional signings or draft picks, Freeman will try to fill the spot vacated by Tony Pollard.

Freeman last played for the Los Angeles Rams, tallying 73 carries for 317 yards and two touchdowns in 2023. The Denver Broncos selected him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft after he became a Third-Team All-American and First-Team All-Pac 12 for the Oregon Ducks.

His rookie campaign was his best NFL season. He finished with 521 rushing yards and five touchdowns in 14 games. But since then, his numbers dropped to 496 yards and three touchdowns in his second season and 170 yards and zero touchdowns in year three with the Broncos.

The Broncos waived Freeman before the 2021 season after competing for a roster spot at training camp. He played for the Carolina Panthers for eight games before getting waived. The Houston Texans claimed him and played 11 games over two seasons.

Royce Freeman has 467 for 1,790 yards and ten touchdowns in six NFL seasons. He will join Rico Dowdle, Malik Davis, and Deuce Vaughn in the Cowboys running back rotation.
