The Los Angeles Chargers and running back J.K. Dobbins have agreed to terms on a one-year contract. The exact terms of the deal remain secret. Dobbins gets another chance to revive his career after playing only eight games over the last three seasons.

After a promising rookie season (805 receiving yards, nine touchdowns) with the Baltimore Ravens, Dobbins’ career took a downturn. He missed the entire 2021 season after suffering a torn ACL in the final preseason game, but his past success is a testament to his potential.

However, he played only seven games after suffering a knee injury in 2022. Dobbins’ woes continued in 2023 when he played only one game after suffering a torn Achilles tendon. He has played in only 26 games throughout four seasons, finishing with 266 carries for 1,494 yards and 13 touchdowns.

While the former Ohio State standout will get a fresh start under head coach Jim Harbaugh, playing for the Chargers is familiar because their offensive coordinator, Greg Roman, carried the same role as the Ravens. Likewise, Gus Edwards will share the backfield with Dobbins after signing a two-year deal with Los Angeles’ AFC team.

Isaiah Spiller and Elijah Dotson join Dobbins and Edwards in the Chargers’ running back rotation.
