According to 93.7 The Fan, the Dallas Cowboys are interested in trading for running back Najee Harris even if they brought in free agents Royce Freeman and Ezekiel Elliott.

The Pittsburgh Steelers declined Harris’ fifth-year option worth $6.79 million, even if he is the only active running back to have 1,000 rushing yards in his first three seasons. The former Alabama standout has 3,269 yards and 22 touchdowns from 2021 to 2023.

Getting Harris boosts Dallas’ backfield rotation, especially after losing 1,000-yard rusher Tony Pollard to the Tennessee Titans. The Cowboys finished 14th in rushing yards per game (112.9) last season.

The Steelers selected Harris 24th overall in the 2021 draft. During his rookie season, he tallied 1,200 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, earning a Pro Bowl selection. The following year, he had 1,034 yards and seven touchdowns.

Harris will earn a $2.4 million base salary in what could be his final season with the Steelers. He signed a four-year, $13 million fully guaranteed rookie contract with the Steelers, which included a $6.8 million signing bonus.

The Steelers upgraded their offensive line through the 2024 NFL draft. They selected offensive tackle Troy Fautanu in the first round, center Zach Frazier in the second round, and guard Mason McCormick in the fourth round.
