Nick Chubb carried high expectations into the 2023 NFL season after establishing career highs in rushing yards (1,525) and touchdowns (12) the year before. Unfortunately, his campaign lasted only two games after suffering a knee injury that was so gruesome that the television broadcaster of that Week 2 Cleveland Browns-Pittsburgh Steelers game did not replay the footage anymore.
While bouncing back from adversity will be his priority heading into the Browns training camp, he’s doing it with much fanfare because of his latest superhuman feat. In an Instagram video shared by JOC Films, Chubb was on camera doing 585-pound heavyweight squats. The four-time Pro Bowler is already lifting iron eight months after surgery on his torn MCL and damaged ACL.
The Browns qualified for last year’s playoffs without Chubb, thanks mainly to Joe Flacco’s resurgence. But now that he’s back, Cleveland should remain a legitimate postseason contender with Chubb, Amari Cooper, and Deshaun Watson.
Missing all but two games last season ended Chubb’s streak of consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to four. He can start another streak in 2024 as he plows through defenders again. A monster season makes him a top candidate for this year’s Comeback Player of the Year Award.
