New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers fueled rumors after he commented about looking forward to playing with wide receiver Davante Adams again. Did the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player drop a hint about a potential reunion between him and his All-Pro wideout?
In that context, former Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason predicted that a trade between the Jets and the Las Vegas Raiders involving Adams might happen in August or September. As he shared with co-host Gregg Giannotti on the 'Boomer and Gio' radio show:
"The dead cap for the Raiders this year is $40 million [if they traded him]. I'm hearing that this is going to happen - if it does happen - in late August or early September," Boomer said. "And the cap hit for him is $25 million."
Esiason added that Adams would not publicly say he wanted to leave Las Vegas. However, he could direct his agent to negotiate a transaction with the Jets to reunite him with his starting quarterback for the first eight seasons of this illustrious NFL career.

Adams is still among the league's top receivers, finishing with 103 receptions for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns. Having him in New York would make the Jets a serious playoff contender because having a wideout trio of him, Garrett Wilson, and Mike Williams might be impossible to stop.
