Ravens Place RB Keaton Mitchell on PUP List

Tough luck has beset running back Keaton Mitchell again after the Baltimore Ravens placed him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to start the 2024 training camp. While the reason for Mitchell’s PUP inclusion is unclear, the Ravens can activate him any time before the regular season starts. However, he could also move to the active PUP list, requiring him to miss the first four games of Baltimore’s 2024 regular season.

However, Ravens fans worry that Mitchell is dealing with another injury after an ACL tear abruptly ended his promising rookie season. The former East Carolina standout lasted only eight games before a tackle by Jacksonville Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard led to the season-ending torn ACL. He finished the 2023 season with 47 carries for 396 yards and two touchdowns.

Having him on the PUP list could be a by-product of his ACL tear last year. While the Ravens don't want to rush his return, head coach John Harbaugh is optimistic that Mitchell's recovery is on schedule.

Mitchell's playing time increased after J.K. Dobbins suffered a torn Achilles, which ended his season after one game. This year, he must share snaps with Derrick Henry, Justice Hill, and Rasheen Ali. Having more competitors in the crowded running back room could diminish his playing time, negating his once-promising NFL career.
