Quarterback Matthew Stafford finally reported to training camp after agreeing to a restructured contract with the Los Angeles Rams. The new deal will give him an additional $9 million over the next two seasons. After the 2025 season, the Rams can opt-out or let Stafford play the final season of his four-year, $160 million contract.
There’s nothing more the Rams could ask from Stafford. He delivered a Super Bowl title in his first year in Los Angeles. Last season, he helped the squad enter the playoffs while earning a Pro Bowl selection. However, he’s not getting any younger, and they’d like to see how much they can remain competitive with him behind center.

Stafford has a talented group to work with, featuring Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, and Kyren Williams. Likewise, the restructured contract should motivate him to perform exceptionally in 2024. However, his gunslinger mentality can be a blessing or a curse for the Rams. He’s had double-digit interceptions if he played at least ten games in one season.
