Jordan Love, Packers Agree to Four Year, $220 Million Contract Extension

The Green Bay Packers deemed Jordan Love worthy of following in Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers’ footsteps. Hence, the four-time Super Bowl champions signed Love to a four-year, $220 million contract extension that could keep him in Green Bay until the 2028 season. Likewise, signing the extension means that Love will report to training camp after missing the first four days.

Love's $55 million annual average salary ranks him with Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence as the highest-paid NFL player. It's also a positive outcome for both parties after Green Bay declined the fifth-year option, which was part of his rookie-scale contract. Instead, Love played the 2023 season under a one-year, $13 million contract.

The contract will commence in 2025, earning him a base salary of $11.9 million. In 2028, that amount jumps to $43.9 million. Love will receive $155 million in guarantees, including a $75 million signing bonus.

It took a while for the former Utah State standout to get accustomed to being the Packers' full-time starter. In his first eight games last season, Love threw ten touchdowns and eight interceptions. After that, he finished the regular season with 20 touchdowns and three interceptions. He finished the regular season with multiple touchdowns in eight of his last nine games.

More importantly, he led the Packers to a playoff victory over the Dallas Cowboys during their Wild Card Round encounter. Love threw five touchdowns and completed 67.3 percent of his throws in two playoff games.

The Packers envision Love as the quarterback who can navigate Green Bay's young but talented offensive core to greater heights. With his future secured, he can continue creating great football moments with Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Luke Musgrave, and Josh Jacobs.
