The San Francisco 49ers and running back Matt Breida have agreed to a contract for the 2024 NFL season. However, the terms of the deal haven’t been disclosed. The 29-year-old will compete for a spot in the Niners’ running back depth chart, which features Christian McCaffrey, Elijah Mitchell, and Isaac Guerendo.
After being undrafted in 2017, the 49ers signed Breida and made him a member of the active roster. His first stint with San Francisco lasted for three seasons until the team traded him to the Miami Dolphins for a fifth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Breida compiled 381 carries for 1,902 yards and six touchdowns during his first stint with San Francisco. That number includes his career highs in rushing attempts (153), rushing yards (814), and touchdowns (3) which he tallied in 2018.
