Lamar Jackson Wants to Win Super Bowl for Jacoby Jones

A Super Bowl title is the only achievement missing from Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s career. They were close to getting it last season but lost in the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

His primary goal this year is to bring a Vince Lombardi Trophy to Baltimore. However, besides achieving team and personal glory, he wants to win Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans for the late Jacoby Jones. Jackson shared that sentiment with CBS Sports Lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones.

The stars are falling into place because Jones hails from New Orleans. Unfortunately, it's also where he passed away in July at age 40. Jones played three seasons for the Ravens and became a First-Team All-Pro kick returner in 2012 when the Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII. Ravens fans will never forget his touchdown catch from Joe Flacco during that season's AFC Divisional Round showdown against the Denver Broncos which helped send the game to overtime.

Jones played for the Houston Texans, San Diego Chargers, and Pittsburgh Steelers in nine NFL seasons. He finished his playing career with the National Arena League's Monterrey Steel. After his NFL career, Jones had coaching stints with Lane College, Calvert Hall College High School, Morgan State, and Alabama State.

Meanwhile, Jackson is coming off his second Most Valuable Player season and will be one of the favorites to win the award in 2024. Aside from Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews, he will get much help from former Offensive Player of the Year Derrick Henry, Nelson Agholor, Rashod Bateman, and Russell Gage.
