This offseason, the New York Jets traded for edge rusher Haason Reddick. In return, the Philadelphia Eagles will receive a conditional third-round pick. However, four months after that trade, Reddick officially requested a trade from the Jets after missing training camp.
Reddick's contract situation has been a point of contention throughout the offseason. He has one year left from the three-year, $45 million contract he signed with the Eagles, which was carried over to the Jets. However, he wanted an extension before playing for New York's AFC squad.
Despite Reddick's request, Jets general manager Joe Douglas said in an official statement that they would not trade the two-time Pro Bowl outside linebacker. He will continue to be fined for his absences at training camp, and the Jets expect him to honor the final year of his deal, earning him a $14.2 million base salary.

Reddick is coming off four consecutive seasons with at least ten sacks. He delivered 11 sacks for the Eagles last season and 16 in 2022. Reddick had 23.5 sacks while playing for the Arizona Cardinals (2020) and the Carolina Panthers (2021).
The outside linebacker from Temple has 58 sacks, 410 tackles, 19 passes defended, and 16 forced fumbles in 114 regular season games. The one-time All-Pro has 3.5 sacks and 10 tackles in four postseason games.
