Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs Injured Hamstring At Practice

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted that Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs left practice due to a hamstring injury. It’s unfortunate news, considering that he’s one of the Lions’ key players on offense.

Worst yet, it’s not the first time Gibbs dealt with a hamstring injury. Due to this nagging condition, he missed two games in October 2023 and some spring workouts. He could have been a 1,000-yard rusher if not for those missed games.

Still, Gibbs became a sensation during his rookie season, finishing with 945 rushing yards and ten touchdowns. The former Georgia Tech and Alabama standout added 316 receiving yards and a touchdown. Gibbs added three touchdowns in as many postseason games, helping the Lions reach their first NFC championship game since 1991.

While Gibbs’ condition remains uncertain, ESPN NFL insider Scott Erickson thinks that Gibbs might have suffered an ACL injury. If that’s the case, he would skip the 2024 season, giving David Montgomery and Craig Reynolds increased snaps on offense.
