The Cincinnati Bengals and placekicker Evan McPherson agree to a three-year, $16.5 million contract extension. The $5.5 million annual value makes him the fifth highest-paid kicker in the National Football League, behind Harrison Butker, Jake Elliott, Justin Tucker, and Matt Gay. With one year left in his rookie deal, McPherson will be under contract until 2027.
The Bengals selected McPherson in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft and gave him a four-year, $3.82 million rookie scale contract. He proved that choosing him was a good maneuver after converting 28 of 33 field goal attempts and 46 of 48 extra points.
The placekicker from Florida was also integral during the Bengals' run to Super Bowl LVI, tying Adam Vinatieri's record of 14 goals made in a single postseason. His achievements prompted the Pro Football Writers of America to include him in the 2021 All-Rookie Team.

McPherson had 24 field goals and 40 extra points in his second season with the Bengals. He also added five field goals and six extra points in three postseason games during the 2022 season. Last year, he converted 26 field goal tries and all 40 extra points.
Through three seasons, he has converted 83.9 percent of his field goals and 95.5 percent of his extra-point attempts. He has also delivered 169 touchbacks in 263 kickoffs.
