Steelers Center Nate Herbig Out For 2024 Season

Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post Gazette beat writer for the Steelers, tweeted that starting center Nate Herbig could be out for the entire 2024 NFL season due to a torn rotator. Dulac also pointed out that the former Stanford standout has been dealing with a shoulder injury since training camp started.

The undrafted offensive lineman started his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. The team waived him three seasons later, giving the New York Jets the opening to claim him off waivers. The 2024 season could have been the final year under his two-year contract with the Steelers. Herbig has played 61 games and started 30 of them through five seasons.

With Herbig's availability for the Steelers' season opener against the Atlanta Falcons in question, Zach Frazier will likely take his place. The Steelers selected the center from West Virginia in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Frazier was a First-Team All-Big-12 member in his final year with the Mountaineers.
