Gardner Minshew Becomes Raiders Starting QB

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce confirmed that Gardner Minshew II will become their starting quarterback for their season-opener against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium. The six-year veteran edged second-year player Aidan O’Connell for the QB1 spot.

Before suiting up for the Raiders, Minshew played for the Indianapolis Colts last season and took over from rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson as the team’s starter. He started in 13 games, tallying career highs in completed passes (305) and passing yards (3,305) with 15 touchdowns. Those numbers earned Minshew his first Pro Bowl selection.

Minshew also suited up for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars, which selected him in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. As of the 2023 season, he has 891 completions for 9,937 yards and 59 touchdowns in 51 career games, including playoffs.

Fast-forward to 2024, he signed a two-year contract on the second day of the 2024 league year. He will now be in charge of an offense featuring Zamir White, Jakobi Meyers, Brock Bowers, and All-Pro receiver Davante Adams.
