The Cincinnati Bengals aren’t having difficulties tracking wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase’s whereabouts. Instead, he was with his teammates throughout training camp. However, the All-Pro wideout wasn’t participating during practices because he was ‘holding in’ for a contract extension.
However, the Bengals electrified their fans with a tweet showing Chase practicing with the squad for the first time this summer. The picture showed him wearing Bengals practice gear while trying to field a ball.
While Chase has two years left in his arrangement with Cincinnati, his camp exercised their leverage in finalizing his next contract. After all, he deserves an extended run with the Bengals after becoming one of the league’s best wideouts.
One rep at a time.

In addition to his three 1,000-yard seasons to start his career, Chase has 407 receptions and 29 touchdowns. His 1,455 receiving yards three years ago was a rookie record until Puka Nacua established a new mark last season (1,486). Chase’s stats translated to one All-Pro and three Pro Bowl selections.
There’s no word whether Chase and the Bengals have agreed on a new contract. However, since he’s still signed to the squad, he could be subject to fines for every regular season game he’d miss. Those penalties could eat up his $1.055 million base salary for 2024.
