The Cleveland Browns have announced that running back Nick Chubb will start the 2024 NFL season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. That decision means Chubb will miss at least the first four games this year.
While Chubb will miss Weeks 1 to 4 of the upcoming season, it's uncertain if he will be available for their Week 5 game against the Washington Commanders. After four weeks, the Browns can open Chubb's practice window.
Chubb's 2023 season lasted only two games after injuring his ACL and MCL in their Week 2 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He did well until the injury, tallying 170 rushing yards on 28 carries. While the Browns earned a postseason berth in his absence, they were no match to the Houston Texans in their Wild Card Round match.

Before that injury-shortened season, Chubb completed four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, capped off by his 2022 performance, during which he established career highs in rushing attempts (302), rushing yards (1,525), and touchdowns (12). Those numbers earned him his first All-Pro and fourth Pro Bowl selection.
The 2024 season will be huge for Chubb because he has no contract extension. Therefore, he must prove that he's still among the league's top running backs to get another deal.
