With CeeDee Lamb and Brandon Aiyuk signing lucrative contract extensions with the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers, only Haason Reddick remains the lone holdout for the 2024 NFL season. Ja’Marr Chase doesn’t count because he has been showing up for the Cincinnati Bengals without participating in team activities.
Last April, the New York Jets traded for Reddick while surrendering a conditional third-round selection. However, New York’s AFC team received a player in the final season of the three-year, $45 million selection with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The two-time Pro Bowler hoped the Jets would engage him in contract extension talks, but nothing materialized. He still has one year left, earning him $14.2 million.
While the edge rusher from Temple played for three teams in the last four seasons, he has been a productive asset on defense. Reddick tallied double-digit sacks from 2020 to 2023, including a career-high 16 with the Eagles two years ago.

Reddick could have been a menacing addition to a Jets defense featuring Quinnen Williams and Jermaine Johnson on the defensive front. Instead, he remains distant from the Jets even if the 2024 NFL season is days away.
Reddick will be subject to fines because he has been absent since training camp. It remains to be seen if he will remain firm with his decision or end his isolation by reporting to the Jets.
