As Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season is about to close, tight ends Jake Ferguson and David Njoku are already dealing with injuries. NFL Network National Insider Ian Rapoport tweeted that Ferguson is dealing with a bone bruise and an MCL sprain, making his status week-to-week.
While the severity of his injury could lead him to miss some games, the condition isn’t season-ending. Ferguson finished the Dallas Cowboys’ season debut against the Cleveland Browns with three receptions for 15 yards. Luckily, while he did not have a great game against one of the NFL’s top defensive units, the Cowboys dominated the Browns, 33-17.
Conversely, Ferguson’s counterpart in that game, David Njoku, is also dealing with an ankle injury that puts him week-to-week. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that news, as shared by 850 ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi. Against the Cowboys, Njoku led all Browns receivers with four receptions for 44 yards.
Kevin Stefanski: TE David Njoku, ankle, week to week.

While Njoku’s injury might not be season-ending, it isn’t a good sign one year after he signed a four-year, $56.75 million contract extension with the Browns. He responded to the franchise’s trust by establishing career highs in receptions (81), receiving yards (882), and touchdowns (6) last season.
