Joe Mixon, Greg Rousseau, Chris Boswell Named AFC Players of the Week

The National Football League named Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon, Buffalo Bills defensive end Greg Rousseau, and Pittsburgh Steelers placekicker Chris Boswell as the American Football Conference Players of the Week for Week 1 of the 2024 season.

In his debut for the Texans, Mixon finished with 159 rushing yards, 19 receiving yards, and a touchdown. His longest rushing attempt was 13 yards, and he averaged 5.3 yards per carry in their two-point victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Meanwhile, Rousseau was all over the field against the Arizona Cardinals, finishing with six tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble. He’s two sacks away from tying his 2023 total and five away from his career-high eight sacks in 2022.

Finally, Boswell contributed 18 points on six field-goal conversions, helping the Steelers defeat the Atlanta Falcons. Three of his successful attempts were from at least 50 yards away from the uprights. The veteran kicker also attempted a punt for 43 yards and added six point-afters.

Mixon and the Texans can maintain their momentum with a Week 2 victory over the Chicago Bears. Meanwhile, Rousseau will be the focal point of a Bills pass rush that will hunt down Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in their Week 2 divisional showdown. Boswell and the Steelers will head to Denver to face the Broncos.
