Saquon Barkley, Tyrique Stevenson, Jake Moody Named NFC Players of the Week

The National Football League named Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Chicago Bears defensive back Tyrique Stevenson, and San Francisco 49ers placekicker Jake Moody as the National Football Conference Players of the Week for Week 1 of the 2024 season.

Barkley was sensational in his Eagles debut, compiling 109 rushing yards, 23 receiving yards, and three touchdowns (two rushing) against the Green Bay Packers at Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Pro Bowl running back needed 24 attempts to gather that many rushing yards, amounting to 4.5 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, Stevenson had four tackles (two solo), two passes defended, and a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans. His pick-six proved the difference as the Bears won their season opener while bailing out rookie quarterback Caleb Williams from his miserable debut. Stevenson is off to a terrific start in his second season with the Bears and only needs three more interceptions to match his 2023 total.

Finally, Moody helped the 49ers defeat the New York Jets by converting six field goals and two extra points. He had a field goal conversion every quarter, including two in the fourth quarter, extending San Francisco’s lead to 19, 32-13. Moody also succeeded in two field goal attempts from at least 50 yards.

Barkley and the Eagles will face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2, while Stevenson and the Bears will visit the Houston Texans. Moody and the Niners will travel to Minnesota to face the Vikings.
