With the Kansas City Chiefs dealing with major rotational issues in the backfield, the team signed veteran running back Kareem Hunt to their practice squad. However, the goal is to elevate him to the active roster immediately.
Hunt played the first two seasons of his NFL career with the Chiefs after the team selected him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. The former Toledo standout made an immediate impact with the Chiefs by leading the league in rushing yards (1,327) and earning a Pro Bowl selection in his rookie season.

However, following the investigation of alleged assault charges against him, the Chiefs dropped him. The Cleveland Browns gave him another lease on his career by signing him to a contract despite his suspension for the first eight games of the 2019 season.
Hunt stayed with the Browns until last season, helping the team reach the postseason despite Nick Chubb’s season-ending knee injury.
This time, he will join a Chiefs squad that will miss Isiah Pacheco’s services for up to six weeks due to the fractured fibula he suffered during their Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Meanwhile, Clyde Edwards-Helaire is also out due to injury, leaving Carson Steele and Samaje Perine as Kansas City’s remaining active running backs.
