Midland Marauders win Blackout

Edward Jansen from Midland, MI and his team Midland Marauders win Week 4 of the Blackout with 221.25 points.

Betting on Jordan Love(QB2) would have paid dividends this week, but only two managers cashed in. Love’s top target Jayden Reed(WR1) was slightly more popular at 6.05% but made a big impact on the winning roster. As did Mike Evans(WR2) who finally rewarded the faithful with a big game. The difference for the Midland Marauders was the unheralded Cinderella story of the first quarter, Justin Fields(QB1)! Week 5 of the Blackout is live

This Week’s Top 5 had one thing in common, RB1 Derrick Henry. Lots of Stroud, Daniels and Kelce fueled top rosters and DK Metcalf and Jake Moody paid off well. Unlike the first three weeks there were not many traps among the most popular players. Still, it was the unexpected performances that made the difference. The winning roster was the only one in the Top 5 to include QB1 Justin Fields. Similarly, Jayden Reed(WR1) only made his way onto two Top 5 rosters. Check out this week’s winning roster:

The Blackout put together a solid, if not good, outing this week. Three of the Top 5 WRs were ineligible, along with the top scoring DST. That alone wasn’t enough to box out the field but lack of faith in players returning from injury did put a damper on scores this week. Kenneth Walker(RB2) came roaring back, which helped the same number of managers as Jordan Love’s QB2 return to action, two. Only a single manager took a risk on WR3 Jordan Addison’s return to action and congratulations to the three managers who foresaw Tucker Kraft’s big game coming. From QB to ST the biggest games remain elusive so far in 2024. Take a look at the highest possible scoring roster:

A pair of WRs provided the top scores from outside the player pool this week. Green Bay’s Dontayvion Wicks would have been the WR2 on the week with 20.40 points. The Colt’s Josh Downs boomed with backup QB Joey Flacco at the helm. His 22.20 points, in his second game back from injury, would have been good for WR4. Jeremy McNichols also came through with a career game for the Commanders. His 2 TD, 20.4 point game would have made him the RB8 in this week’s Blackout.

Derrick Henry was the only player from the Perfect Score roster to also appear on the Wisdom of the Crowd roster. He’s a prime candidate to be ineligible going forward but with the upcoming AFC Bonanza managers will get one more chance to start him in Week 5. Is a three-peat in works or will he be a trap in the Ravens’ division matchup against a soft Bengals defense? The most popular roster has averaged 158.83 points so far this season, putting this week’s 203.60 way out in front. The crowd raked in 65% of the available points! GREGH987 very nearly held onto the top spot on the overall leaderboard despite taking a tumble from his red hot start. He finished 305th on the week after ill fated swings with Brandon Aiyuk(WR45), Chris Godwin(WR23) and biting hard on fool’s gold at TE with Cole Kmet(TE9) as well as a brutal goose egg from Kyle Pitts. Unfortunately, his commanding 35.6 point lead has dwindled to 0.00 points as Joe Mic’s Picks moves into a tie for first behind a 68th place finish in Week 3. He also finished 4th and 3rd place in weeks 2 and 3. Last Week’s winner FYFFL is hanging in the Top 5 after finishing 62nd in Week 4. Week 2’s champ Joe Kapp has the 5th highest score, he’s finished 46th and 86th after his win. The inaugural 2024 Blackout champ, Andrew D is still holding strong at 36th overall. A little feedback from a long time customer.

Our fantasy pool is entering its 25^th year and I have used multiple books and on-line tools over the years.

I have locked on to Fantasy Index as my go to for the last 5 years and have won the pool 3 of those years and finished no lower than 4^th.

Interesting to see how much more accurate you were at the end of the year compared to other books my competitors used.

You guys do a great job. I got laughed at by a few people at the draft but they're not laughing now. I'm leading the league in record (8-1) and PF thus far.

And a side note… we've got a re-draft 16-team, 20 players drafted league (drafting water boys by the 17^th round) that I've won 2 years in a row. Nobody's ever done that in 21 years… using your cheat sheet. it's an old school league that used to draft out of piles of magazines.

This is my ninth year competing with my two very savey adult children and their 11 regulars to make it a 14 team draft with a $200 bid limit. Your SuperFanatic package has put me into the 6 team play- offs 4 out of the 8 years and there is no way I could compete with these guys without my cheat sheets! They still have no idea how I can be so lucky every year :-) Cheaters do prosper!!!!

I wanted to thank you for such an amazing product and your customer service. I ordered the wrong date for my update and called to correct the mistake. Your customer service person was very kind, helpful and took care of the issue immediately.

I have used your product for the past 18 years or so… Every now and then I will be tempted and look at what other magazines have to offer, quickly realizing no one comes close.

In addition to the magazine, I started buying the weekly updates years ago when my dad taught me a lesson. The draft came and dad was sitting in the 12 hole for his pick. He told me he felt very comfortable about who he was going to select but would not tell me who his prized gem was to be. I was doubtful. The pick? Priest Holmes (his first dynamite year). I remember telling my dad, "that is a decent pick but they plan to pull him at the goal line." Ever the teacher, dad explained he had purchased the Fantasy Football Index update and read Holmes would get the goal line carries. "Update?", I asked. That was 2002 and Holmes had 21 rushing TDs and Dad won the title! Lesson learned.

By the way, I have made the title game for the last 5 years in a row. Thanks for the detailed, hard work and an great product!
