Jared Goff Achieved Perfection Versus Seahawks

In addition to leading the Detroit Lions to a 2024 Week 4 Monday Night Football victory over the previously undefeated Seattle Seahawks, Jared Goff achieved perfection by completing all 18 passing attempts. He could have had an incompletion if a penalty did not negate the unfavorable sequence.

Last week, Goff completed his first 14 passes in their win against the Arizona Cardinals. He did not miss a pass this time while throwing for two touchdowns. Goff’s first touchdown pass was a seven-yard strike to All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown with 6:57 left in the third quarter. Four minutes later, he found Jameson Williams for a 70-yard touchdown.

However, Goff’s first-ever NFL touchdown catch made his perfect day more memorable. St. Brown found him on a trick play by throwing a pass above linebacker Trevis Gipson. That eight-yard touchdown stretched Detroit’s lead to 15, 42-27, with five minutes left in regulation.

Goff’s 18 completions is a league record for most passing attempts in a game without an incompletion. Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner held the previous record by completing all ten passes in a 2005 Arizona Cardinals game against the Houston Texans.

More importantly, the Lions handed Seattle its first loss this season while improving to 3-1, one game behind division leaders Minnesota Vikings. Goff hopes to maintain this momentum as he leads the Lions further in the season.

However, after competing for the first four weeks, Detroit gets a Week 5 bye before returning to action against the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 14.
