The New York Jets have completed a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for Davante Adams. In exchange for the All-Pro wide receiver, the Jets will be sending a conditional third-round pick that can become a second-rounder. This transaction reunites Adams with four-time NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers, his quarterback with the Green Bay Packers from 2014 to 2021.
While those conditions might sound like a tall order, remember that Adams became one of the game’s best wide receivers with Rodgers throwing him the ball. In addition to five Pro Bowl selections and a First Team All-Pro nod, Adams had three 1,000-yard seasons with Rodgers. Their partnership also helped the Packers make six playoff appearances, including four trips to the NFC Championship Game.
However, the Raiders traded for Adams during the 2022 offseason and signed him to a five-year, $141.25 million deal. Schefter added that the Jets will absorb the remainder of this contract and that the Raiders won’t pay any portion.

In that case, Adams could play with the Jets for three more seasons, including this year. There’s no doubt that he still has much football left in him, as proven by his 1,144 receiving yards and eight touchdowns with the Raiders last season.
It's uncertain, though, if Rodgers will play beyond 2024, even if he has one year left in his restructured contract. Reuniting with Adams should entice the one-time Super Bowl champion to return in 2025.
