The video of Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba reacting to the Chicago Bears’ hiring of Shane Waldron has resurfaced all over the Internet. However, his deafening silence might have been an omen regarding Waldron’s fate.
The Bears fired Waldron after their Week 10 loss to the New England Patriots. It was a total disaster as Chicago scored a season-low three points, while the result extended their losing streak to three games. The Patriots’ nine sacks on rookie quarterback Caleb Williams add insult to injury.
The Bears shouldn’t be at 4-5, considering they have a talented offensive unit. Waldron is at the helm of a group led by Williams, DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift, Rome Odunze, and Cole Kmet. Despite their firepower on that side of the ball, the Bears ranked 24th in points per game (19.4) and 30th in yards per game (277.7).

Before joining the Bears, Waldron served as the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator for three seasons. He also coached various positions with the Los Angeles Rams before joining the Seahawks. He was also a part of two Super Bowl-winning coaching staffs with the Patriots.
Thomas Brown will take Waldron’s place as offensive coordinator. Brown was the Carolina Panthers’ OC last season and had a coaching stint with the Super Bowl LVI-winning Rams team.
