The Los Angeles Chargers have done well in the first half of their season, winning six of nine games. They’ve won four of their last five games, including a three-game winning streak. In addition to the transformation inspired by head coach Jim Harbaugh, quarterback Justin Herbert is a major driving force for the Chargers’ success.
Pro Football Focus noted that since Week 7, Herbert has had the highest overall grade, with 95. The former Oregon standout also leads all quarterbacks with 13 big-time throws while having zero turnover-worthy plays.

In their last three games, Herbert has completed 52 passes for 725 passing yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He has completed 66 percent of his throws and only one interception. Herbert had a pedestrian stat line against the Tennessee Titans, making 14 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown. However, he completed his first rushing touchdown, a massive difference in their 27-17 victory.
The Chargers’ second-half schedule doesn’t get easier because they will still face four teams with a winning record of .500 or more. However, Herbert’s renewed confidence gives Los Angeles’ AFC squad versus the Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs, and Denver Broncos. Before they face those teams, Herbert will face Joe Burrow and the gritty Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11.
