Aaron Rodgers Intends To Play For Jets In 2025

While the 2024 NFL season is only halfway done, quarterback Aaron Rodgers has already signified his intention to play for the New York Jets next year. In a video shared by SNY TV, the four-time Most Valuable Player stated that how this season unfolded doesn’t affect his desire to play one more year.

The Jets haven’t met the football world’s lofty expectations even as Rodgers returns from a season-ending Achilles injury. They’ve won only three of their first ten games and lost six of their last seven games. Their only victory during that stretch was against a Houston Texans squad without Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs.

Meanwhile, their other victories were against the Tennessee Titans and the New England Patriots, two teams with a combined record of 5-14. Worst yet, the Jets fired former head coach Robert Saleh within the season, and Rodgers criticized a teammate instead of taking the blame for a failed play.

Rodgers has struggled in the process, completing only 62.4 percent of his throws (219 of 351) for 2,258 yards, 15 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. However, despite not playing like his old self, the Jets have no better options at quarterback.

Likewise, he’s still under contract for next season after signing a three-year, $112.5 million restructured contract. Rodgers will count for only $23.5 million of the Jets’ salary cap for 2025.
