With the Philadelphia Eagles winning the 2024 NFC East title, the division hasn’t produced back-to-back champions in 20 years. Last year, the Dallas Cowboys won the division at 12-5, while the Eagles were one game behind. However, the Eagles were on their way to another NFC East crown if not for losing five of their last six regular-season games.
The Eagles and the Cowboys split the last four division titles. Before that stretch, the then-Washington Football Team won the division with a losing record. However, they lost in the first round of the 2020 Wild Card Round to eventual Super Bowl Champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The NFC East has now gone 20 consecutive years that the defending NFC East champion did not repeat the following year.

From 2004 to 2024, the Eagles have eight division titles while the Cowboys have seven. The Washington franchise and the New York Giants have three apiece. Two NFC East teams won the division and the Super Bowl in the same season. The Cowboys won the 2007 division title, but the Giants defeated Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.
Four years later, the Giants won the NFC East and defeated the Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch. The Eagles won the 2017 division title and beat New England in Super Bowl LII.
