Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley became the ninth player in NFL history to reach 2,000 rushing yards in a season. He reached that impressive milestone after collecting 31 carries for 167 yards in their dominating win against the Dallas Cowboys.
Barkley has at least 107 rushing yards in six of his last seven games. That’s not bad for a player in the first season with his team. Furthermore, the Pro Bowl running back established the Eagles’ single-game rushing yards record and his career-best in the same game: their 37-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
Barkley has 11 games with at least 100 yards, and his season low was 47 yards. In addition to that tally, he has 278 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The former Penn State standout has one game left to break Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record (2,105). To establish a new record, Barkley will need at least 101 yards in Week 18 against his former team, the New York Giants.
With the NFC East division title already in the bag, Barkley and the other Eagles starters could rest in Week 18 and compete in the postseason. However, the opportunity to enter the NFL record books should entice Barkley and the Eagles offensive line to chase Dickerson’s tally.
