Lamar Jackson Was On a League of His Own

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens have clinched another playoff berth by winning the competitive AFC North. However, he carried the team, finishing the season by accomplishing an NFL first.

Jackson became the first player in NFL history to have at least 4,000 passing yards and 800 rushing yards in a season. The quarterback from Louisville’s exact numbers are 316 completions for 4,172 passing yards and 41 touchdowns. Jackson added 139 carries for 915 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

After losing their first two games, the Ravens went 12-3 to steal the division away from the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had two 300-yard games and 12 games with multiple passing touchdowns, including two with five touchdowns each.

Meanwhile, his four interceptions this season are the second-fewest of his career. However, his 8.6 percent passing-to-touchdown rate leads the league.

These numbers strengthen Lamar Jackson’s case for his third Most Valuable Player award. In doing so, he will be one of seven players to win at least three MVP trophies.
