Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen Will Meet Again in the 2024 AFC Championship Game

Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen will meet in the NFL playoffs for the fourth time in the last five seasons. It will be the second AFC Championship Game contested between these two All-Pro quarterbacks and their respective teams, the Buffalo Bills and the two-time defending Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs.

Mahomes and the Chiefs reached their seventh consecutive AFC Championship Game after defeating the Houston Texans at home. Meanwhile, Allen and the Bills did the same against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. They return to the AFC title four years after their last appearance.

However, their matchups have been one-sided, with the Chiefs winning all four encounters. Kansas City defeated Buffalo in the 2020 AFC Championship Game and the succeeding season’s Divisional Round, where the Chiefs forced overtime with 13 seconds left in regulation. They faced each other in last season’s Divisional Round, where Isiah Pacheco’s four-yard touchdown run sent Kansas City to the AFC title game against the Ravens.

Their last two playoff games ended in a one-possession deficit. However, while the Chiefs are hosting the game, the Bills are hoping for a favorable result to reach the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1993 season.
