Patrick Mahomes Has Second-Most Playoff Victories Among NFL Quarterbacks

It’s like the AFC playoffs have become the Patrick Mahomes Invitational. Since he became the Kansas City Chiefs’ full-time starting quarterback, the team has never been eliminated in the Divisional Round. In addition to his seventh consecutive AFC Championship Game, he will be playing in his fifth Super Bowl in a rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mahomes can also own a piece of the NFL record book as the first quarterback to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles if he and the Chiefs defeat the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. In doing so, he can inch closer to Tom Brady in the list of quarterbacks with the most playoff victories.

The Chiefs’ victory over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game is Mahomes’ 17th playoff victory, putting him one ahead of Joe Montana. What’s impressive is that Mahomes accumulated that many postseason victories in only seven seasons and he won’t turn 30 until September.

Winning Super Bowl LIX gives him 18 playoff victories, 12 away from Brady. He will also have four Super Bowl championships, three away from tying Brady’s mark. However, winning a third straight Super Bowl title must put him in the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) conversation, especially when he could accomplish this during the salary cap era.
