After much speculation regarding his future, quarterback Matthew Stafford remains with the Los Angeles Rams. While the deal’s terms remained secret, it’s a restructured deal that will keep him with the NFC West squad for multiple seasons.
Stafford is coming off a season with 340 completions for 3,762 passing yards and 20 touchdowns. While he’s short of the 4,000-yard milestone he typically reaches, he helped the Rams win their division and had a chance to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round.
Before finalizing the deal, the Rams permitted Stafford to speak with other teams. Though it is widely believed that the two-time Pro Bowler will return, exploring his options assures him regardless of what happens next. He reportedly communicated with the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Giants before re-signing with the Rams.
Stafford led the Rams to victory in Super Bowl LVI, capping off his first season with the squad after getting traded for fellow quarterback Jared Goff. He signed a four-year, $160 million extension which would last until 2026.
