Bills, Josh Allen Agree to a Six-Year, $330 Million Contract Extension

After winning the NFL Most Valuable Player award, the Buffalo Bills rewarded Josh Allen with a six-year, $330 million contract extension. The new deal included $250 million in guaranteed money, surpassing Deshaun Watson’s $230 million guaranteed contract with the Cleveland Browns.

Allen is coming off a year wherein he finished with 3,731 passing yards, 531 rushing yards, and 40 total touchdowns. Despite his impressive stats, he was playing under a six-year, $258 million contract that he signed four years ago.

However, the $43 million annual average of that deal looks pale in comparison with the massive contract extensions other quarterbacks signed in recent years. Dak Prescott has the highest annual average after signing a four-year, $240 million extension with the Dallas Cowboys.

Josh Allen’s new contract is an upgrade on his current deal with the Bills. Therefore, instead of being a free agent after the 2028 NFL season, this amended contract will expire after the 2030 season, when he is 34 years old.

In addition to his MVP award after leading the Bills to an AFC East division title and a 13-4 record, he also earned Second-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selections. Meanwhile, Allen’s new contract is a part of the Bills’ offseason spending spree, which includes contract extensions to Greg Rousseau (four years, $80 million), Terell Bernard (four years, $50 million), and Khalil Shakir (four years, $53 million).
