As Shohei Ohtani dominates Major League Baseball, he will take center stage in another platform as he becomes a playable character under Fortnite’s “Icon Series.” Epic Games announced that the reigning National League Most Valuable Player will be available starting March 17, one day before he and the Dodgers open the 2025 season against the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo, Japan.
Ohtani will join other sports icons like LeBron James, Patrick Mahomes, Lionel Messi, Travis Scott, and Mr. Beast, among others. The Japanese sensation will be the first MLB player in the game and his character will wear home and away Dodgers uniforms, plus a LEGO version. Meanwhile, Ohtani’s dog, Decoy, will also have its character.

Shohei Ohtani signed a ten-year, $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers before the 2024 season. Since then, he helped the Dodgers win the World Series against the New York Yankees and became the first MLB player to have 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a season.
